Saturday 13 June 2020
7:30 PM GMT
About the Event
I’ll be reading at the open mic portion of this event and would love to see you there! This is from the Cheltenham Poetry Festival website:
“We are thrilled to have acclaimed poet Ankh Spice read for us at this very special event. Ankh will offer you feedback on your work after you have read.
Ankh Spice is a sea-obsessed poet from Aotearoa (New Zealand). His poetry has appeared in a number of online and printed publications internationally. He often uses natural imagery, myth and strong derealisation to explore the personal and shared traumas that keep us unsettled, environmental issues, and the drive to persist against our odds. Two of his poems were nominated for the 2020 Pushcart Prize.”

Tickets to this event are FREE, but you must register for a space through this link at EventBrite: Poetry as Exploration of the Past Panel Discussion
About the Panel
In this panel, three ‘historical poets’ discuss how poetry can be used to explore the historical past. Points of discussion include:
• How can poetry effect our understanding of a particular place, person or event?
• How does historical poetry compare with historical fiction? Are the two the same, similar or completely different?
• What can historical poetry bring to our understanding of history, and is it unique to the genre of poetry?
• Can poetry make history more accessible?
• Can modern poets can re-open conversations about history and help us connect it with our current social and political landscape in new ways?

For the past 25 years, Café Improv has connected beginning and professional performers.
Saturday, August 24 2019
7:00 – 10:00 PM EST
Cafe Improv
102 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ 08542, USA
It is the home for the very best music/comedy/performance in the Princeton area since the early 1990s.
Cafe Improv happens usually on the 4th Saturday of the month at the Solley Theater at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts.
The current incarnation of Cafe Improv began when John Irving contacted Robin Middleman of the Arts Council of Princeton in 1990, and inquired whether the Arts Council would host a show along the lines of an open stage he played at over at Good Time Charlie’s restaurant in Kingston.

The Arts Council of Princeton is a wonderful organization dedicated to expanding the health of our community through the arts.
Cafe Improv also eventually appears on Vimeo.com (though it may take a few weeks to make its way there).
